Although Option 2 would be a consideration, and recognize that some might view it as selfish, I much prefer Option 3, which would be to shove my body out of a plane in the middle of the wilderness and let nature do its work.Meandering Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00464355148386507875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8045067453505592669.post-87048112288198430932010-09-29T11:22:35.167-07:002010-09-29T11:22:35.167-07:00@ Michael: if you're in Vancouver this fall, y...@ Michael: if you're in Vancouver this fall, you may be in luck. Let me know how you liked it! I can appreciate your view on embalming vs plastinating. But now let me ask you this: what if you only had two choices: 1) plastinating (and becoming an exhibit on Body Worlds) or 2) giving your body to med students?

@ Fawn:I love the "if you can eat cupcakes afterwards then it's not that gross" link. And interestingly, I thought the part of the exhibit where you see only the blood vessels was the coolest.Scientific Chickhttp://www.scientificchick.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8045067453505592669.post-58863423185701587002010-09-28T21:59:01.044-07:002010-09-28T21:59:01.044-07:00I think the first time I heard about this exhibit,...I think the first time I heard about this exhibit, it was in a science magazine I happened to pick up somewhere. The article dealt mostly with the ethics (and questionable origins?) of the display.

One of my friends saw the exhibit last year and found it fascinating. She went out for cupcakes right after, so I take it she wasn't grossed out.

I think the individual systems would be interesting to see -- like seeing just the blood vessels, for example. The athletic poses strike me as strange and creepy. Does it pull of artsy? Not sure.Fawnhttp://fawnahareo.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8045067453505592669.post-65802612227805046102010-09-26T20:45:07.087-07:002010-09-26T20:45:07.087-07:00I, personally, would love to see it. I just would.

And if I had only two choices: to be embalmed or be plastinated, I would totally want to be plastinated.Meandering Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00464355148386507875noreply@blogger.com
